The wholesale and retail segments of the food markets, increasing urbanization and growth of organized retail, food servicing and food processing sector are boosting the growth of cold chain industry in India. The trend is shifting towards establishing professional multipurpose cold storages and providing end to end services to the customers.
Our cold store facilities are being equipped with the storing end of post-harvest technology that enables us to offer integration capabilities to our customers.
Post-harvesting involves cooling, cleaning, sorting, packing after harvesting the produce on the land, followed by preparing its transport to the next part in the food chain: this could be either a trader, consumer (group), or storage and processing facilities. We also offer direct portal access, where our customers can access real time inventory levels and tracking information, including where suitable, app technologies.
Our cold store warehouses are supported and optimised by “best of breed” warehouse management systems that incorporate radio frequency technology and scanning. Business intelligence is simplified through a “new generation” tool with cloud based data offered by our European partner Quantbase, that combines reporting, business intelligence and web query into a single platform.
The integrity of our customer’s products is secured through on-line temperature monitoring technology. Hi-tech has been expanding its limits by implementation of AI/ML and IoT solutions based on data science. This feeds the E-commerce models too!
E-commerce & Technology are a great value addition to enabling Food safety and security! But it also poses challenges for the quality and availability of Cold chain solutions varying from post-harvest storage and processing to quality transporting. The consumer is more aware of what the food quality should be, wants to know more details about the products ordered and imposes new health requirements to the delivered products. This leads to a better connected cold chain using technology! We value application based solution in this field. On the transport side we see last mile delivery, electrification and enabling models.
IEFP is currently developing a so-called agtech solution in development phases in a “build as you grow”-mode. We are not focused on a massive outlay of classic solutions like many food parks do for the masses in high volumes, which are needed. We have a embedding technology thinking in our focused approach without using size or volume to excel. In the short & medium term we are focused on implementing our business model based on innovative technologies as a layer on the top of the classic industrial solution of cold storage and small-scale niche products based processing.
It goes without saying that we also are engaged in developing a data based approach to our post-harvest technology approach with our knowledge partners.
